In December of 2001 in Durham, North Carolina Michael Peterson called 911 to report that his wife had fallen down a flight of stairs in their house.  Though emergency personnel found her at the bottom of a staircase, some of the evidence was inconsistent with a fall. According to the autopsy report, Kathleen Peterson had several lacerations to the back of her head, indications of blunt trauma from an object, and died after almost two hours of blood loss.

Michael Peterson was initially convicted of murder and then he was granted a new trial.  We will analyze jury deliberation, reasonable doubt, and what are the deciding factors in a jury decision.
